School Psychology, School Counseling, Mental Health Counseling: Dissertation Submission

Steps to submit your dissertation

  1. Begin at this webpage: Proquest ETD Administrator (https://www.etdadmin.com/alfredhml).
  2. Choose “Submitting Your Dissertation/Thesis” on the top menu bar and go through the steps to create an account.
  3. It’s suggested that you spend a little time exploring the material under the “Resources and Guidelines” tab. Many of your questions can be answered there.
  4. Pay particular attention to the notes section at the bottom of the first page when you begin the actual submission process. The Division of Counseling and School Psychology at Alfred University has set up the requirements that you’ll be following in the process.
  5. You will need to insert the signature page into your dissertation after the title page. There is a link to the file below, or you can obtain an electronic copy of the signature page from the School Psychology department secretary. Do not include original signatures as part of your electronic version (see next step). Type the names on the signature form page instead. The department will keep the original signature page as part of their permanent files.
  6. You will need to have your dissertation in a PDF file for submission. Please read the online instructions beforehand. There is an online conversion tool within the webpage.
  7. Go through the steps and answer/fill out each one. Generally, students say “yes” to including their work in search engine results and “yes” to allowing third party retailer sales.
  8. You can save your submission and complete it at a later time, if needed.
  9. Be aware that once you’ve gone through all the steps (including the order and submitting to Herrick Library), that your credit card will be charged at that time. Further revisions to your document can still occur but that won’t change the status of your order of printed material.
  10. If you want to order additional copies after you submit your order, you can later call ProQuest Dissertations at 1-800-521-0600, ext. 7020.
  11. Automatically included in the online order is a bound copy of your dissertation for the Herrick Library collection, and a copy for your advisor and one for the School Psychology department library. These will be mailed directly to Herrick Library and will be delivered by library staff to your advisor and the department.
  12. The binding format and number of additional copies for yourself and any committee members is determined by you. Those copies will be sent directly to you and it will be your responsibility to forward copies to committee members.
  13. Any questions can either be directed online to a company representative or to Maria Planansky at planansky@alfred.edu or 607-871-2938.
