Alfred University Libraries student employees guide: Scheduling and Budgets

Because Public Services manages so many students, we use this Excel form to monitor our students' work study balances and to ensure that we are staying on budget. There is a separate tab for work study vs. non-work study hours, and a third tab for the students' personal information like phone numbers and addresses.

As part of the "reapplication" process that happens every semester, we ask all students who wish to continue working for the libraries to fill out an availability sheet for the next semester before they leave campus for break. This gives us an idea of where the "holes" are in our schedule and helps us determine our hiring needs for next semester. Each form is customized to the hours of the library where the student works.
