Library Instruction

Information literacy and library instruction at Alfred University.

Using Primo

Primo is the general search interface for Alfred University Libraries. By default, Primo searches most of the library databases as well as all of the books, ebooks, and other resources that are available. The advanced search and filtering functionality help refine search results.

Using Databases

Using a specific database allows for a more focused and more specialized search. Databases may focus on a particular subject, type of material, or publisher. The user interface and functionality varies between databases; ask a librarian, or your professor, for help with getting the most out of a particular database.

Requesting Materials

Alfred University Libraries have access to lots of materials, but we can't have everything. We work with other libraries across the U.S. and around the world, through services like interlibrary loan (ILL) to provide access to the resources you need for your research and study.

Your Library Account

You can see what you have checked out, and renew books borrowed from Alfred University Libraries, online! After logging in to Primo, select "my library account" to see your loans. You can renew items individually or "renew all."
